A Farewell Note & Updates on Xiao’ou

Let me start with some unimportant rambling first:

Shall not waste too much time explaining why I have temporarily stopped blogging. It mainly has to do with the deficiency of a web log as a means of self-expression. Thanks to fyp for allowing me to step back and think through it.

University started here and ends here: a nice perfect cycle. It is really a joy for me to flip through the old entries, so much so that it gets emotionally difficult to put a stop to the continuation of the space. For that reason, and for the sake of the many comments that I can’t bear to delete, I will keep this space open (till the day when msn crashes or decides to trash it). There is still a positive possibility that I will come back to blogging some day, somewhere else, so long as I still feel like writing. Of course I am still reachable through msn and emails, etc. Just that for the time being, it makes environmental sense to use up some of my pretty ‘antique’ pens on decent notebooks that I don’t know what to do with otherwise. =]

p.s. I love you all~

Anw, thought I owe some of you an update on Xiao’ou’s condition, so here you go:

Updates on Xiao’ou (22 Apr, 2009)

sources:

http://blog.sina.com.cn/blessxiaoou & Xiaonei

On 8th Apr, she flew back to China with her mum and aunt . She currently (as of 22th Apr) stays in ‘人民医院’, according to the latest update by her friend on Xiaonei. If it is the PKU People’s Hospital, it should be one of the best hospitals in China. With the establishment of the ‘World’s Largest Umbilical Cord Blood Cell Bank’ in Beijing, we can have even more confidence in her recovery.  Depending on her recent blood test results, she might be discharged soon and rest in a rented apartment near the hospital till the next chemotherapy treatment. The use of the total donation of S$286,788.10 is believed to be under supervision by two NUS profs and NUSSU representatives, and receipts of medical expenditure would be sent by her family members to Singapore to justify the use of the donation money. For future updates on her conditions, please continue to read the sina blog (link provided above and on the left pane of this space).

Once again, on behalf of my humble self (since I don’t think I can represent anyone else), I thank everyone who read this blog and showed concern for Xiao’ou, and all who had made an effort to help her - You are very much appreciated!

Hope she will recover soon!

George Shearing

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Shearing

British Jazz Pianist. Born-blind (omg...i din know that!). Started learning piano at 3.

Let's see him playing:

George Shearing: Lullaby of Birdland

George Shearing - Shadow of Your Smile

Again couldn't find on youtube any of the songs we are singing,

so, strongly recommend the Chamber Singers Concert!

All the 7 songs by George Shearing are nice!

(among other nice songs of cos.

so far, i have only found 1 song out of the 25 i am involved in, not nice.

i am being really honest.)
